Enalapril (Vasotec) – The ACE Inhibitor, controls High BP

Enalapril that comes under the brand names of Vaseretic, Vasotec and Vasotek I.V is another wondrous solution for the high blood pressure and falls in the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. The doctors generally prescribe Enalapril either alone or in the combination of the other drugs in order to control the high blood pressure. It works in the same way as Benazepril, by decreasing those chemicals, which tightens the blood vessels and interferes the smooth blood flow. Once such chemicals tend to decrease the blood flow naturally becomes smooth and normal.

However, enalapril has got certain ill effects. Most significantly the pregnant women should never use this drug, as it can affects the fetus adversely. Other common side effects are, however, cough, weakness, rash problem, and dizziness. Enalapril may show a few more sides effects, which may be quite serious. Lightheadedness, difficult breathing, hoarseness, fainting and swelling of the face, eyes, tongue, lips, throat, hands, feet, ankles or lower part of the legs are certain serious side effects. Skin and eyes turning yellow should also be taken quite seriously.

The patients having allergy towards fosinopril, lisinopril moexipril perindopril quinapril ramipril trandolapril or other similar drugs, should not use Enalapril.
