CAUTION! QURA’AN IS NOT JUST A BOOK …..READ TO LEARN THE MIRACLES OF QURA’AN part4

January 30th, 2009

THE MIRACLE IN THE IRON Iron is one of the elements highlighted in the Qur’an. In Sura Hadid, meaning Iron, we are informed: …And We sent down iron in which there lies great force and which has many uses for mankind…. (The Qur’an, 57:25) The word “sent down,” particularly used for iron in the verse, could be thought of having a metaphorical meaning to explain that iron has been given to benefit people. But when we take into consideration the literal meaning of the word, which is, “being physically sent down from the sky”, we realize that this verse implies a very significant scientific miracle. This is because modern astronomical findings have disclosed that the iron found in our world has come from the giant stars in outer space. The heavy metals in the universe are produced in the nuclei of big stars. Our solar system, however, does not possess a suitable structure for producing iron on its own. Iron can only be produced in much bigger stars than the Sun, where the temperature reaches a few hundred million degrees. When the amount of iron exceeds a certain level in a star, the star can no longer accommodate it, and eventually it explodes in what is called a “nova” or a “supernova”. As a result of this explosion, meteors containing iron are scattered around the universe, and they move through the void until attracted by the gravitational force of a celestial body. All this shows that iron did not form on the Earth, but was carried from exploding stars in space via meteors, and was “sent down to earth”, in exactly the same way as stated in the verse: It is clear that this fact could not have been scientifically known in the 7th century, when the Qur’an was revealed.

THE PAIRS IN CREATION Glory be to Him Who created all the pairs: from what the earth produces and from themselves and from things unknown to them. (The Qur’an, 36:36) Although the concept of ”pair” or “couple” commonly stands for male and female, the statement of ”from things unknown to them” has wider implications. Today, one of the implications of the verse has been revealed. The British scientist Paul Dirac, who proposed that matter is created in pairs, was awarded the Nobel Prize for physics in 1933. This discovery, called ”parité”, maintains that matter is paired with its opposite: anti-matter. Anti-matter carries the opposite properties to matter. For instance, as opposed to matter, the electron of anti-matter is positively charged and its protons are negatively charged. This fact is stated in a scientific source in this way: …every particle has its antiparticle of opposite charge… …and the uncertainty relation tells us that pair creation and pair annihilation happen in the vacuum at all times, in all places.8

Planet Hugging

January 26th, 2009

Tree hugging is a thing of the past. It is not just about the trees anymore. It is about the air, the ocean, the earth, the ozone, the future. There are new concerns about the environment every day; it is a crisis unlike any other. You must care about the conditions under which the future generations will have to live, you must care about every aspect of the environment on the planet of which we live, and most importantly, you must care about fixing the problems that have already been created instead of simply making “Band-Aid” (Nering 352) solutions for these potential disasters.

However, this is coming from the heart and soul of a former six-year-old who aspired to save the planet and all of Her resources. A six-year-old who marched around the park next to her house on Earth Day alone with a homemade sign protesting pollution until the sun went down, and who is now witnessing the destruction of our planet by none other than those who claim to be working for the future of the world. It is a heart breaking experience. Now with the mind and body of an eighteen-year-old, and more conscious about the way global politics work, this environmentalist’s dream is rapidly becoming a universal nightmare. The need for environmental salvation is even more evident now, twelve years later, as new policies and bills are being proposed everyday to tap into the indispensable resources of the planet. The future of the planet resides in our hands.

We were once the future generation of the world, now we are the next generation. We will have to combat different obstacles than our parents did, and their parents did, ones that they did not dream of facing in their lifetime but threaten our well-being. The decisions of one generation impact the future generations. Do you want our children and grandchildren to play in fresh air playground, or toxic waste dumps? The future generations will pay monetarily for the mistakes that are made today as is already occurring with this generation. The increase in oil prices has skyrocketed, with prices as high as “56 bucks a barrel” (Stout). They will also pay in ways we cannot possibly comprehend at this point in time. Every action or inaction that we take in this generation will affect positively or negatively on the welfare of future generations. With a raise in air temperature, due to the increasingly gaping hole in the ozone layer, fertile land will begin to disappear, which will be the cause of the decrease in the cultivation of crops, and therefore create famine. So, how do we completely prevent such tragedies from occurring? At this stage in the world’s history, it is impossible to know. However, there are ways to diminish our affects on the planet as a whole, especially when it comes to the emissions of CO2 into the atmosphere and halt the expansion of this hole. If the human race continues at this rate of consumption of natural resources, and emission of pollution, we will kill the planet and any chance of a future for Her.

Bill McKibben, the author of The Environmental Issue from Hell, raises interesting points about the demise of our planet regarding her ability to maintain equilibrium. He expresses the validity of the argument that if we do not take care of the planet now, it will not be here for us to live on for very much longer. The deterioration of the planet at this rate will result in the unfathomable costs of our most prized natural wonders. The consequence of global warming will also come into fruition with the annihilation of marine life. The raise in oceanic temperatures will eradicate coral reef life by mid-century (McKibben 324), and also has begun to take its toll on Arctic animals, such as polar bears, who are “twenty percent scrawnier than they were a decade ago” (324) because there is an elimination of their food source due to the reduction of seals in the area. Seals are leaving the area because the warmer air temperatures is causing the ice to melt and ridding them of habitable space. “All in all, the 21st century seems poised to see extinctions at a rate not observed since the last big asteroid slammed into the planet. But this time the asteroid is us” (325). The depletion of natural forests, by deforestation, will also result in the drastic reduction of species by extinction, and eventually entire ecosystems. In this instance we are consciously exterminating entire species with a single order of lumber.

Another tragedy, as a result of global warming, is occurring that is affecting the human race, and not only the animal kingdom. With the widening of the hole in the ozone layer, which protects our planet from harmful rays of the sun, the heating of the surface of the earth is causing the polar icecaps to melt. This increase of water raises the water levels and floods the land. One such area is Bangladesh, in the Bay of Bengal, when in 1998 the floods from the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers were so great that the rice crop cannot be planted (324). As McKibben points out, this disaster could potentially create a nation-wide famine, which would pose a problem for the entire international community. “Global warming is a moral crisis, too, if you place any value on the rest of creation” (324).
What are humans doing to cause these self-imposed catastrophes? The answer lies in excessive consumption. Major industrialized nations cause most of the problems for the rest of the world. CO2 emissions from unnecessary entities, such as SUVs, cause the general populace to view pollution as an expected downside to their expected lifestyles. A

t the rate that humans are expending the planet’s oil reserves, the estimated period of time left before the oil wells run dry “is considerably less than 100 years” (Nering 352). The supply of oil in the world is not growing; it is a “mirage” (351) as the author of The Mirage of a Growing Fuel Supply, Evar D. Nering, explains. “Calculations also show that if consumption of an energy resource is allowed to grow at a steady 5 percent annual rate, a full doubling of the available supply will not be as effective as reducing that growth rate by halfto 2.5 percent” (352). Halving our consumption of oil may seem like an unrealistic goal, but taking many smaller steps towards the reduction of our usage will eventually lead to a beneficial impact on the planet. Nering goes on to say that “Reducing the growth of consumption means living closer to where we work or play. It means telecommuting. It means controlling population growth. It means shifting to renewable energy sources” (352). The solution to the earth’s salvation is not in discovering more oil wells because this is only a short-term solution, or a “Band Aid” (352), but rather in discovering renewable resources that can benefit the planet and future generations. These poignant remarks explain in terms of statistics and logic where we stand in terms of solutions for the betterment of our planet.

However, there are many who would rather view the current circumstances as otherwise, such as the current American senators who are aiming at uncovering a miracle well in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This proposal to drill is contrary to the solution for the survival of our planet, but appears to be a lucrative business proposition for those involved.

Drilling into the land of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would mean degrading the sentimental value that it holds to so many people of not solely the United States, but of the world. Jack Kelly, a reputable writer from Hawaii, weighs the losses and the gains of drilling in the Arctic in his article The Arctic Refuge; The Last Frontier. It is home to diverse ecosystems, breeding grounds for many species, and is altogether a gorgeous expanse of natural beauty. “Imagine multicolored fields of wildflowers as far as the eye can see beneath a backdrop of mountain peaks, under a sky so brilliantly blue it seems almost unreal. Melting snow feeds immense rivers that race down the mountain slopes and then quietly spread out on the coastal plain, eventually making their way to the sea” (Kelly 1).

Now imagine this scene with oil rigs, and disruptive piping; not as aesthetically beautiful. Allowing for the drilling in this area would not necessarily mean an endless supply of “Texas Tea” either, but more along the estimation of a “six months’ use in the United States” as determined by the U.S. Geological Survey (Kelly 1). The senators who are in favor of this bill are also claiming that since there is success in Alaska already in the Prudhoe Bay Area, there will be success elsewhere (Kelly 2). It is a contortion of facts by certain senators, and is creating a debate among the Senate. Specifically the two senators from Hawai’i are surprisingly endorsing this bill, though it will impede heavily on the nature of the Arctic and its wildlife, which the Senators Daniel Akaka and Daniel Inouye from Hawai’i, have always fought for in the past. It is tactics by legislators, such as this, that endorse the continual consumption of the natural resources of the planet, rather than supporting the scientific research needed to discover renewable energy. Though there may be successful drilling in the Prudhoe Bay Area, “the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has determined what might produce enough oil for six months’ use in the United States” (Kelly 1). The reason this oil would only last six months is because of the rapid rate of consumption that the United States currently employs, which corroborates Nering’s proposition of the necessity to halve the consumption rate of Americans. The Hawaiian Senators are typically environmental activists, but were persuaded to vote in favor of the bill. Their decision was crucial to the splitting of the votes, and will lead to the eventual drilling in the arctic.

Drilling in the Arctic National Reserves and global warming are only two examples of the ominous deterioration of the planet and Her reserves. If drastic measures are not taken immediately then the demise of the planet will be on our shoulders. The danger to our planet caused by humanity’s current ignorance will weigh heavily on the future generations. It is imperative that our course of action as responsible human beings be to save the planet. There is a looming necessity to change our actions to become more environmentally sound, and to save our planet from destruction. We must reconsider what our true impact on the earth is and how we can alter our actions, instead of simply waiting until it’s a problem for the next generation.

Having written this article as a Freshman at the University of Richmond, I am now a rising Sophomore and looking to continue my studies in Spanish and Business next year. This article is very important to me in that the topic is one that I have cared about my entire life and have struggled with getting other people to understand my passion about the environment. I believe it is very important to voice your opinion about topics that concern us, and that is why I wrote and researched this article.

Even Though

January 25th, 2009

As often happens following one of the Best Year Yet programs I do, a message emerges for Monday Morning Coach. Recently I conducted a BYY workshop and what struck me was how often participants (I include myself in this group, since each time I present it, I am also vicariously examining my own life) stop themselves from taking action because of the underlying belief that they don’t have “enough,” or aren’t enough (smart enough, thin enough, ready enough, etc.) to make things happen.

Shortly after that workshop, I got up one morning feeling somewhat burdened by a day that seemed to have a few too many deadlines. I had almost defaulted to dragging around that heavy, overwhelmed feeling when the thought struck me…”Even though you have several deadlines today, you can still choose a positive, enthusiastic attitude.” And at that moment, the words “even though” jumped out as the antidote to virtually any excuse you or I might have about why we’re not making good things happen in our lives.

So what follows is a list of “even though” statements I encourage you to use as your antidote anytime you need to jumpstart your initiative, get off the dime and change things for the better!

*Even though I can’t do everything on this project, I will do something.

*Even though I have too many projects to manage, I can focus on one at a time rather than procrastinating.

*Even though it’s wet outside and I can’t do my usual walk or run, I can find a way to get exercise indoors.

*Even though “it” won’t be perfect, I can still do the best I can and get started.

*Even thougth I’ve been unsuccessful before, I can keep trying until I succeed.

*Even though I don’t have enough (whatever), I can still be grateful for what I have and use it wisely.

*Even though I think I need more (time, money, information, people) I’ll start with what I have and my resources will grow. *Even though I think
“they” did something to wrong me, I can still choose to forgive and move on.

*Even though I ate too much yesterday, I can still choose to get active and eat more wisely tomorrow!

You can probably add dozens of variations to the theme. The point is, we can either have what we want in life or we can have all of our lousy excuses and justifications instead. Playing the “even though” game is a fun way to stop buying into the excuses and start taking the actions to propel you forward. Here’s to making this an “even though” week.

Learning about Games of Luck Gambling Enthusiasts Participate in: Betting Hall Taking Risks

January 24th, 2009

Vegas Palms

If you don’t comprehend betting saloon gambling, then do please read on.

Typically, a gambling house is an edifice that presents betting. Here, guests will hopefully gamble by having a bash at the coin-operated machines or trying out some other gambling pastimes. Betting house games in the main have fully transparent probabilities incorporated which insure the gaming company holds on to dominion over the betting devotees.

Very many gambling saloon games can get you addicted speedily. Let’s scrutinize the simple one-armed-bandit, a coin operated machine with three or more reels that swivel when a crank on its side is tugged. The appliance routinely returns in accord with a range of pictures discernible on the dials on the machine. Disastrously, gaming room games allow a delusion of ascendancy, thus hoodwinking the betting aficionado – the punter is awarded decisions, but in actual fact these won’t ever realistically match up the player’s long term negative odds. This is brought about by the the gaming establishment never repaying the full stake as expected. This philosophy is notoriously found in well known casino games such as Texas hold’em poker, dice games, roulette or blackjack.

Texas hold’em poker is certainly a highly trendy casino game. The gambling aficionados, jealously guarding their fully hidden cards, must place bets into a central pot that is bestowed onto the winning gamer endowed with best set of cards. (Of course, the coolest bluffer can win)

Resembling seven-card stud poker, blackjack is likewise a very popular casino game. A lavish portion of its acceptance is due to its particular mix of chance and craft & choice making, not to mention a method named Card Counting. The aforementioned is a craft in which gambling devotees may reverse the arm of chance of the card game for their own good both by wagering & fundamental opetations correlating with the cards shown.

“Craps” is a well-known wagering game involving the throw of two dice. Players may place bets on the end result of one cycle, or on a string of spins of two dice. Quite unlike blackjack, there isn’t any credible long term winner system players could cash in on to beat the odds.

Roulette is another eminently popular casino pastime — a croupier revolves a roulette wheel that has precisely 37 (European roulette) or exactly 38 (Vegas roulette) differently numbered places in which the tossed pellet will come to a stop, signifying the final winning number and the other chances that go along with it. Supposing that the punter wagers on a number and makes it, which is to say they’ve got a lucky hand, the benefit is 35:1, the bet proper being paid out. Thus it’s increased by a factor of 36.

So be very much on the lookout nonetheless because all of these gaming room games are rightly considered highly addictive. Certainly far too many lives are proven to have been wasted as a result of addictive gambling + despite the fact that it feels entertaining, try to practise self-governance.

No Down Payment Poor Credit Mortgage Loans – No Money Down Loan Information

January 23rd, 2009

Finding a “no money down” mortgage loan is actually easier for someone
with poor credit. Subprime lenders are more willing sign off on these
deals than conventional lenders. But before you jump into a mortgage
contract, make sure you understand the terms and are getting a good deal.

Benefits Of A “No Money Down” Mortgage

A “no money down” mortgage allows you to buy a home with little to no
money due at closing. In essence, you are trading a rent payment for a
mortgage payment, which makes the jump easier. However, you will pay a
higher interest rate for these terms.

By not paying closing costs, it makes getting out of a home much more
cost efficient. For example, say you pay $6,000 at closing for your
traditional mortgage. In a year, you have to move for a number of reasons.
You are out that money, even with a lower interest rate. With a “no
money down” loan, you wouldn’t worry about that losing that money.

What “No Money Down” Means

“No money down” can mean two different things when it comes to
mortgages. With some lenders, “no money down” means that no down payment is
required, but closing costs are. Usually closing costs will equal 3% to 6%
of the loan amount, which equals a couple of thousand.

Other lenders describe home loans where no money, not closing costs or
down payments, is required. Instead, closing costs are included into
the principal amount, usually up to 2% of the loan’s value.

Locating “No Money Down” Lenders

With adverse credit, you will want to shop around for a subprime
lender. Online you can find hundreds of financing companies, many with
competitive financing rates. If you don’t know where to start, check out a
mortgage broker site. They connect to several lenders and can get you
mortgage quotes in minutes. Then expand your search as you come across
lenders.

When you request a loan quote, be sure to select the “no money down”
term. This may mean checking a box or selecting a specific loan term.
Just be certain you know what “no money down” means with each lender
before making a decision about a financing package.

Critical Elements Of An Ecommerce Website

January 23rd, 2009

‘About Us’ Page

To establish your credibility, you need to write an ‘About Us’ page to tell your customers what your business is about, the services you offer, and what they can expect from you in general. This page is very effective in boosting customer confidence. Since many online shoppers view the ‘About Us’ pages of any business before making purchases, you risk losing customers if you do not include this page when designing your website.

‘Contact Us’ Page

In the event that the customer needs more information about your products, or faces problems with product delivery, this ‘Contact Us’ page will supply the necessary contact information they need. Be sure to include not only your email address, but also your mailing address and a toll-free phone number, if you have one.

FAQ Page

The FAQ page provides additional relevant details about your products and services. Since many customers may be unsure of whether to make the purchase because they lack the information they need, an ‘FAQ’ page can give your prospect the extra ‘push’ needed to close the sale.

List all the queries that you think your customers will have on the FAQ page. By anticipating the customers’ queries and answering them on the FAQ page beforehand, you’re increasing the confidence of your customers and saving yourself lots of valuable time. Simply direct your customers to check out the FAQ page first before contacting you for more information, to avoid the hassles of answering every single query that comes your way.

So how should you structure your FAQ page? First, group your questions into relevant categories, and position all the questions near the top of the FAQ page, in numbered lists. This is to provide your customers with an overview of all the questions. After which, you should follow with the individual questions and the answers.

Privacy Policy Page

To reassure your customers that the information you collect from them will remain confidential, you need a Privacy Policy on your website. Essentially, you need to tell your customers that you will not sell, rent or disclose their personal information with any third party. The information can refer to the email addresses you collect from your customers, or any other contact information.

Testimonials Page

For any online business, testimonials are essential for establishing your credibility. Testimonials form credible and unbiased recommendations for your product, and they are, by far, one of the easiest ways to increase your sales.

Why are testimonials so effective for your online business? If your customers are exposed to comments of people like themselves who have used your products before, the trust between you and your customers is stronger. Hence, testimonials can overcome the skepticism of any hesitant customers, by confirming that your products do give them the benefits you promised on your website.

Of course, apart from dedicating one entire page for your customer testimonials, you should also display your testimonials prominently throughout your website. You can place them on the front and center of your home page, or on the sidebars. Be sure to place at least one testimonial on every page so that your visitors will always be exposed to the positive comments about your products, no matter which webpage your visitor happens to be browsing.

To get testimonials for your website, simply contact your customers either by email or by phone, and ask for their feedback of your products. Ask them specifically how your products benefited them, and whether they were satisfied with your products. Also ask them to include details like name, country and hometown on the testimonial to further establish credibility.

Shopping Cart Functions

If your online business sells a huge catalogue of products, you definitely require a shopping cart to process the customers’ orders and calculate the total charges. The shopping cart also submits the data securely to your payment processor, so that you can accept credit card payments from your customers.

When selecting a shopping cart, remember that customer convenience is a very important consideration. Customers should be able to browse your products and add items to their shopping cart easily without going through too many clicks. This certainly creates an impression of professionalism in the eyes of your customers.

Payment Processor

Of course, an online business is not truly ‘online’ without the ability to accept credit cards over the internet. It is an undeniable fact that over 80% of most online businesses accept customer payments with credit cards, instead of checks or over the phone. Hence, you definitely need to be able to accept credit card payments online, in order to cater to the payment preferences of your entire market satisfactorily.

There are various payment processors available; well-known companies like Paypal, 2CheckOut and ClickBank immediately come to mind. Different credit card payment processors charge different fees and offer unique services, so the exact choice of a payment processor is up to you.

Live Chat Service

Whenever possible, you should include a live chat service on your website. Of course, at least one of your business staff will have to be available for a certain number of hours each day, to answer the queries and requests of your customers. Such a service can dramatically increase the reputation and credibility of your business, and ultimately your profit margin.

Usually, such a live chat service cannot be implemented for free. There are many companies on the net that provide this live chat service, and most will need you to pay a monthly fee to install their live chat software on your site. However, the benefits of having this live chat service may far outweigh the costs, so do not be put off by the fees easily.

In conclusion, you need to have these critical features when designing your website – About Us Page, Contact Us Page, FAQ Page, Privacy Policy, Testimonials Page, Shopping Cart Functions and also Payment Processing Functions. The live chat service is optional, depending on your business.

Tactics To Sell Your Home Quick

January 20th, 2009

There are some basic strategies and tactics that you can use to sell your home faster than most on the market and get a great price at the same time.

The first thing anyone usually does when they’ve decided that they want to sell their home is set their price! You do not want to price your home out of the market or price it so low that you find yourself with a smaller profit than what you’re entitled to. Scout around the homes for sale in your area, check out the rates, compare your homes with others and then decide how much you can ask for.

Next, you’ve got to get your home ready to show. The best way to start is to pretend walking into the house for the first time and looking at it from a buyer’s perspective – look at the walls, the carpet, the window sills, counter tops, look at every nook and corner – is it good enough for you? Look for any unsightly blemishes that yells out to you, nail holes, chipped paint, stains in the sinks or commodes, spoiled wallpaper, bathtub stains, chipped tiles in the bathroom or shower, dirty blinds, etc. Once you’ve spotted them, have them fixed. Clean every inch of your home including the windows inside and out.

Next, get rid of all the clutter. You may be comfortable with the way your home looks and feels, but prospective buyers would want to see your home fitting in with their lifestyle and their furniture. If you’ve got several pieces of unused furniture which take up more space than needed, put them away. Your house needs to look spacious.

Do not forget to look through your basement and attic just like you did the living space of your home. Check for anything that may turn off the buyer and repair or replace the problem.

And finally the exteriors! This is the very first thing a buyer will see when they pull up to your home. What do you see? Are there oil stains in the driveway or garage, is the pavement or sidewalk cracked, how do the rain gutters appear, and do you have any moss on the roof? Get all of them fixed. Check your garden and remove anything from the yard that is not pleasing to the eye.

Once done, you are ready to place your home on the market and see it sell faster than the others.

Real Estate Magnetize Offshore Outsourcing

January 20th, 2009

Outsourcing is the buzz word in today’s time. Companies are coming a big way in outsourcing but the point to be noted here is to choose the right place for that. There are few factors which influence the decisions of the companies. Firstly they look for the labor condition in that area. Every company wants cheap but efficient labour.India has become a favorite destination for the MNC’s mainly because we offer them cheap and very efficient labour. Then these business giants look for the skilled professional. But the underlying factor is the real estate. This is becoming the biggest concern for the outsourcing companies as they have to build their offices for which they need reasonably priced real estate. Earlier Delhi topped the chart but now these biggies are expanding their reach to other parts of India. The list has the names like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon and the new entries are Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and Baddi in north India. The real estate in these is shooting up and if we look the property trend for the past 1 year then we will find that real estate value has shown huge increase. Real estate is a big influencer for any company to do outsourcing. Real estate is evaluated in terms of structure and availability. As off shoring grow to higher back office functions so cost becomes the most important factor in deciding for the location.

Factors influencing the decision of offshore locations are based on three scenarios:

* Price driven

* Quality driven

* Market trends

The city which tops the list globally in terms of price is India and Philippines in Asia, central and Eastern Europe, Central part of America. In terms of quality the city which tops the chart in India is Delhi and next is Bangalore. Study says that the major driving force for BPO’s is the easy access to plentiful and qualified workforce as they deal in technical areas. Now the shift is towards North India especially Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula.Market trends also influence the off shoring decisions. It’s been found as a very big offshore driver. Investment in a foreign real estate for off shoring is cheaper. So off shoring in foreign land are becoming so common and its going very fast too. Real Estate business has a great future as it seems.

Another problem is loss of emails, some crucial, making migrations very expensive and even dangerous.

Migration from one web host to another is not difficult; it can be fast and safe when one knows what the experts know. By following the steps below you will stand a better chance of a smooth transfer.

The most important start to website migration is finding another web host, one that will not give you reason to migrate again, or soon. A whole book can be written on how to choose a web host; or by searching on ‘choosing a web host’ in a major search engine, there will be many articles available.

The steps below will give you an idea on how to start and how to avoid a lot of the pitfalls.

First, make a list of all the features your website uses or requires, and will require in the future, be prepared. Make a list of web hosts who offer these features; you can find hosts in web hosting directories, message forums, or by searching on a major search engine. Read the information on their websites carefully, specially their terms and conditions. Avoid any long-term contracts and full-payments in advance. Ask questions about all things you have a doubt about. Email their support department at various times (both day and night) and check the response time. You will find customer reviews on hosts in web hosting directories. (Unfortunately they may not be the most accurate due to much web host guerilla activity, but greater scrutiny will often help.) Talk to people in web hosting related message forums; you may find useful information on hosting companies by their existing or past, customers.

Sign-up an account with your new host. Upload all of your files, databases and test your site using the IP address given to you with your new account. Make adjustments in the coding, necessary for the change in the server environment. Then check each and every page, link and image on your website.

On your new mail server, re-create all email accounts currently in use; and set up auto-responders, forwarders and aliases at the same time. If available, enable the “catch-all” feature; this will help you to retrieve all emails sent to a non-existing email account; which you may have forgotten to create! Remember though, the new email addresses will only work after the transfer of domain is complete. Unfortunately, there is no way to test them on new server before the transfer.

The next step is transferring the domain; to do this you need to start by changing the DNS server details, which is pretty easy to do. Obtain the Primary and Secondary nameserver details from your new web host. Go to your domain registrar’s site (the site from which you registered the domain name) and login into your control panel, offered by most of the domain registrars, to maintain your domain name. In the control panel, look for the ‘DNS’, ‘Nameserver’ or ‘Delegation’ option and change the previous nameserver details, with the new one (you just obtained from your new host).

Some domain registrars confirm these changes by sending an email to the address you nominated while registering that domain. You will need to reply using that email address. Most of the hosts offer a free domain transfer service and will be happy to make the necessary transfer changes for you. The domain transfer can take 24 to 72 hours to be confirmed by the domain registrar; and, so too for the new host, if doing this service for you. If it is not transferred within 72 hours, it is advisable to contact the domain registrar and look into the matter.

Once your domain is transferred you will start receiving emails from your new mail server and see your website from your new account. Leave your old web hosting account open for 3 or 4 more days, just to ensure you receive all emails, including those losing their way in the domain transfer and directed back to your old email account.

After a few days, ask your previous web host to cancel your account. Make sure you follow all of your previous host’s closing procedures, and leave cleanly. You will find that the transfer should go smoothly and all parties will be more helpful.
