Gaming Laptops To Turn Mobile And Slick

June 29th, 2008

Its senseless that laptop computers are now becoming a common gadget, as if you should own one. But take note if you want the most up to date tech than you need to cultivate some patience as there could be part shortages. Laptop Computers have been a growing business year on year for a number of years now and it looks like that will continue. The funny thing is that even when you get the latest thing out it’ll be out of date.

There seems to be a lot more variation and attainability of gaming notebooks these days. These days you get higher specifications for your cash because the next best thing is always around the corner. Gaming notebooks are no longer laughed at by serious gamers because they are actually fairly good. Performance to one side, also worth a mention is the extremely thin chassis designs we are witnessing these days. Even though performance has greatly advanced and the designs are attractive, honestly performance will and should forever trail behind desktops. I feel gaming notebooks are always exciting to hear about because they are constantly testing the limits on mobile technology.

Power laptops are commonly custom built to the users spec. With tier 1 manufacturers you usually don’t have a clue what they fit into the system. With that in mind you normally get to specify the cpu, ram, hard disk and software. Mass market notebooks are not manufactured with particular buyers in mind and this could create a problem. Mass customisation of notebooks has got past this dilemma. The support offered by custom resellers is also a little more individual in my opinon. To me this is a massive plus.

The future of upcoming notebooks seems great. Notebooks purely for surfing the net etc are being released in the market one after the other. total new sector has developed overnight it seems. Consumers would prefer to see big screen ultra portables if that sounds right. I guess you could say these notebooks are already available if you are willing to pay the money. Laptops for gaming will get thinner, that’s for certain. Every year we encounter new products so who knows what we will see next.

I would recommend Rizeon if you are in search of the best laptops.

Surviving The Digital Economy Meltdown!

June 28th, 2008

“Dying isn’t hard for men like us, when every everything around you has been butchered or slaughtered … living is what’s hard.” Clint Eastwood to Chief Ten Bears in “The Outlaw Josey Wales”

The bloom is off the rose, the roosters are coming home to roost. Use whatever metaphor fits your business or culture! But get the net/net – the “new digital economy” is starting to get down to some real fundamentals. Don’t get caught in the downturn, learn to grow organically using targeted marketing and customer referenceability. New rules for surviving the meltdown:

1. Cash is king. Husband your marketing resources as much as you can by driving hard bargains with all suppliers – or perish the thought, use equity to leverage your cash on hand. If your vendor/partners take some equity (as we do in our clients), then you know they are really committed to the success of your company! And with the downturn in the IPO market, you may be saving yourself some money in the long run.

2. Love your customers. Be absolutely committed to your customers; do what it takes to make them successful in the marketplace and they will respond in kind by recommending your firm to members of their community. And, yes, you can ask them if they will recommend other potential clients.

3. Give your customers some equity in your company. This marries them to your firm (see two above) and helps to motivate them to help your company grow and prosper.

4. Co-brand or partner where you can. Meaning, find a partner in your market segment who is doing well and develop a revenue share (classic win/win) model which helps both of you grow by sharing market information.

5. Get digital in your marketing processes if your business model is focused on delivering goods and services via the web. Every marketing type is recommending opt-in e-mail this Fall, but they are right, it works well. Prices are dropping. YesMail, for instance, has an $150 gross CPM Holiday Promo underway for most of the categories with about 7M opt-in addresses available!

6. Search Engine positioning/ranking still provides the best ROI of any interactive marketing. But you have to be patient and persistent in your processes. Build the right keywords and integrate these with your site content, then manually submit your pages to the top tier Search Engines. Or, if the sheer complexity of the task overwhelms you, then hire a specialized marketing firm to do this.

7. Build sound fundamentals into your business. Grizzled marketing veterans like your author experienced the post PC downturn in the mid 80s. I don’t think we are going to see such a radical meltdown in our new economy, but look at the declining valuations via the stock markets, slowing PC penetration, and Internet access signups. Yes, it’s still a solid global economy with plenty of niche marketing opportunities for growth, but the “digital high tide” is starting to recede. So don’t count on mega million advertising revenue as your “path to profitability”, the VC buzz word du jour. Develop fundamental profit centers in your business.

8. There are lots of free marketing resources out there but be wary of the proliferation of snake oil salesmen (sorry John D). There is a new industry springing up of people who are hyping free or low cost ways to instant riches. Here’s how I set my hype filter: if it sounds to good to be true, then it is, so click your browser and move on.

9. Build a web site that’s popular, one that’s linked and listed by many others sites. This helps you get high listings via Google, HotBot and other top tier search engines. Here is a free resource that helps you setup and participate in a LinkPopularity program. It can be set up in a couple of minutes via the Fantomaster.com web site.

10. Recruit and hire with an eye to the variances in the market. Meaning, don’t hire until you absolutely have to and use outsourced companies for jobs which are not part of your company’s core attributes. This saves money in the long run and lets you quickly scale up your business when and as you need to, in turn minimizing your fixed human resources and/or payroll costs.

Pre and Post Natal Exercises for the Active Woman – 6 Key Moves

June 27th, 2008

Exercise during and following pregnancy may seem like a foreign concept to you, but it is an essential item on any active woman’s to-do list. During pregnancy, you may remain active with a doctor’s consent; however, strenuous postnatal exercise is not recommended for 6 weeks following the birth. Even though your regular cardiovascular and strength routine will have to wait, there are gentle exercises you can do immediately following the birth.

Following are 6 exercises for prenatal and postnatal women. These exercises are recommended for women with no known contraindications, and should be followed according to your own body cues.

1. The Kegel- both pre and post natal

Muscles- Pelvic Floor
Lying on the floor with your feet out in front of you and your knees bent, just relax and let your body weight sink into the ground. Imagine you are urinating, and then stop the flow of urine. Simply engage in a small contraction of the sphincter, and then a relaxation. You can do this exercise as a progression- start lightly, build your way up, hold, then slowly release. You may do this sitting up in a chair, or in any position that is comfortable. Build your way up to 2 sets of 30 each day.

2. The Bridge- pre natal

Muscles- Gluteus Maximus
Lying on the floor with your feet in front of you hip distance, and your knees bent, squeeze your buttocks and slowly raise your hips up off the floor. You may keep your arms down by your sides. Keep your belly pointed toward the ceiling, not dropping to your side. Hold on top for 5-10 seconds, then release back down to the floor. 2 sets of 15

3. The Cat Stretch- pre natal

Muscles- Up: strengthens abdominals, Down: stretches lower back
On all fours, take your hands under your shoulders and your knees hip width apart. Start with a neutral spine, keeping your head in line with your spine. Slowly roll your spine up toward the ceiling like a cat stretching. Think of pulling your abdomen in toward your spine. Slowly release down past your starting point and gently arch your back. 2 sets of 15

4. Ball Crunches- pre natal

Muscles- Abdominals
With an exercise ball propped against a wall, lean back on your ball until your buttocks are about 6 inches from the floor. Feet are on the floor in front of you about hip width apart. With your hands across your chest, and your chin tucked, slowly curl up, imagining your abdomen curling forward into a C shape. Exhale as you roll forward, inhale as you roll back slowly. You do not need to curl up very far. 2 sets of 15

5. Pelvic Tilt- post natal

Muscles- Abdominals
With your back flat against the floor and your knees bent, take your legs hip width apart and drop your arms by your sides. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, slowly roll your pelvis towards your shoulders, pressing your back deeper into the floor. Do not lift your hips up off the floor. Stabilize your abdominals as best as you can. Build up to 2 sets of 20

6. Belly Button to Floor- post natal

Muscles- Abdominals
With your back flat against the floor and your knees bent, take your legs hip width apart and drop your arms by your sides. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, think about drawing your belly button down to the floor. Relax, and then repeat. As you are doing this exercise, think about the belly flattening and compressing. You belly button should be pulling itself right down against your spine. 2 sets of 20

Discover a Thin Dildo for a Magnificent Orgasm with your Boyfriend

June 26th, 2008

Some guys have a difficult time keeping a boner and some girls have really long sex drives, meaning it will take the chick a remarkably long time to come. Because of this contrast in sex drives, love making will turn into a boring and undesirable love making session. That’s why slim dildos might well be helpful. If the man shoots early in the game, or even if the female just takes longer than her partner, he can continue to penetrate the girl with the dildo. That way all sexual play does not stop. It gives the man time to recharge his energy and keeps the lady stimulated. So when he is ready to come back into the session, the lady will still be aroused enough to accept the bloke. Sex Toys will send you wild.

Your most erogenous field is your mind. And as far as many women won’t admit this, the penis is a focus of fertility, no matter how big or small, it is still associated with power. Penetrating your mistress with a slim dildo could make a fantasy of power mischief reality.

Some people enjoy the sensation of feeling full in their vagina or anus. Whenever a sex aid such as a large dildo, penetrates the vagina or back passage, the muscles contract around it. Loads of women get the tightening of all of these muscles to be wonderfully enjoyable.

How To Build Your Profits Through Endorsements

June 25th, 2008

An endorsement can be an extremely powerful business booster, particularly when the person doing the endorsing is well known and respected by the people who read or hear what he or she has to say. Your endorser doesn’t have to be a famous sportsperson, a film star, or a university president to command respect; someone who is ‘visible’ in your community’s business life will just do fine!

Also the endorsement’s wording doesn’t have to be (in fact shouldn’t be) run-of-the-mill. It can say a lot more than “Louise runs a fabulous hairdressing and beauty salon, please drop by there and see for yourself.” An endorsement can be creative and compelling – truly novel.

Endorsements can be presented through direct mail, TV, telemarketing or a simple personal letter. We use endorsements from satisfied clients all of the time. In fact it is part of the agreement we establish with a new client from the outset. What we say to our clients is, “If you find any of our services or business development products the best value – for – money investment you have ever made in your business, will you endorse them to your clients or customers and business associates.”

Let’s have a an example: When a solicitor friend of one of our daughters wanted to increase the size of her firm I suggested that she approached her accountant – who was also one of her clients – and asked him to send a letter of endorsement to his best clients.

Her accountant readily agreed to do this. This is what the letter said:

“It’s rare for me to write, much less to write about someone in another field. But I’m writing to tell you about my solicitor, Jane Sharpe, and to tell you of some of the great work Jane has done for me.” (At this point the accountant mentioned several ways in which Jane’s advice had saved him time and money. Then came the creative touch) -

“Because I appreciate your loyalty to our accountancy firm over so many years, I was thinking of sending you flowers for your office or a gift box, but I decided that the noblest thing I could do for you is to buy you an hour of Jane’s time. I’ve arranged to do that, and there’s no charge or obligation to ever use Jane again.

The session will not cost you one penny, and you can use it to talk about any subject you want to discuss, whether it’s a business or personal issue – or whatever. I can’t recommend Jane enough. Here’s her number. Just tell Jane that you’re someone for whom I’ve purchased an hour of her time.”

That’s what you call an endorsement. One that was highly successful with just over two-thirds of those people receiving it actually taking up the offer, and 57% visited Jane not just once, but on several occasions. Jane’s business increased dramatically, and the accountant’s business also benefited through a referral percentage.

Referrals provided by your customers/clients and suppliers can be another potent profit-builder and one we frequently use to add significant additional profits to our clients bottom line.

Keep this in mind too: Competitors can actually help you grow your business and profits. Here’s how:

Go to a competitor and show them that if they’ve lost a customer or client that, for all practicality, it’s a sunken cost that they’ve written off. Tell them that if the customer or client doesn’t want to buy from them, they can still make a profit by introducing the customer or client to you. Both sides win.

Go to your competitor and say, “Let me have a chance to access your inactive clients, not your new, active ones. Or tell them, “let me have one of your salespeople to call on your old customers to say, ‘You didn’t buy from us, we understand. We’ve done something to loose your goodwill, but we want to introduce you to somebody we respect. We think that we’re superior and superb, but if you don’t want to do business with us, let us introduce you to the next best thing. We really respect these people.”

If you do just that, the law of averages says that you’re going to get 30% to 50% of those ‘old clients’ to buy from you. Pay the referring competitor as much as 100% of the first transaction. Show them that you could write them a cheque for tens of thousands of pounds, which they could use to pay off debt, to run advertisements, to build new clients, to add to their facilities or, to hire additional sales personnel.

After they get over the shock of a competitor wanting to do business with them, many will agree to your plan. If they say no and tell you to take a wild leap, don’t let that upset you say to them, “I’d say the same thing if someone came to me with this proposition. But let me make a point: You’ve got a lot of lost assets. You spend thousands of pounds to build them.

These old customer or clients are not buying from you now and probably they never will again. Every week, every month, every year that you do nothing with them, it’s a lost asset worth less and less.

If you can convert a thousand of those five thousand customers or clients to me – and I am willing to pay you 35%, 50%, 75% or, 100% of their first transaction with me – I can write you a cheque for £20,000 or £50,000 or £200,000. How bad is that?”

Don’t Allow Yourself to Get Burned

June 24th, 2008

I am not a big fisherman, but I do enjoy it whenever the opportunity comes my way. I have some friends who are fanatics and occasionally I will go out with one of them. They have nice boats and it makes for an enjoyable day.

I like fishing from a boat but, actually, the kind of fishing I enjoy the most is surf fishing. I don’t do it very often, but occasionally, when I go to the beach on a family outing, I will take my rod and reel and fish from the beach.

Surf fishing, to me, offers a lot more excitement than fishing from a boat. Here you get to stay active all the time. Basically you wade knee or thigh deep out into the surf and cast using a rod and reel. Since the surf is so active, there are a couple of special considerations you have to take care of. It is necessary to use extra weight so the bait will stay put and you have be extra sensitive to your line because it can be hard to tell the difference between a fish strike and the surf pulling your tackle.

Of course there are a few things you have to look out for. Sea currents can be kind of tricky in some places and you have to be careful not to get sucked out to sea. Sometimes there will be sea urchins under foot and if you are not careful you can step on one. This can be quite painful. There are also other kinds of dangerous sea creatures. On more than one occasion I have had to dodge stinging jelly fish or get away from small sharks (the sharks were probably too small to be any real danger, but I was not about to take any chances).

But there is another danger that is a really sly one – especially on an overcast day. Standing out in the open air for a couple of hours, without very good skin protection, can cause you to get a horrible sunburn. This really can sneak up on you, though. The nature of getting burned by the sun is such that you usually don’t realize it immediately. When your skin starts turning red it is already too late. It is very important to prepare ahead of time to prevent it in the first place – doing things like putting on a good sunblock and wearing a hat and other protective clothing.

Planning – The Foundation for Success

The sun is not the only thing in life that can sneak up on you. If we don’t prepare ourselves well, in advance, we can find ourselves on the wrong side of success in our career, our social life and even in important relationships. So just what can we do to keep the critical mistakes of life from sneaking up on us?

The simple answer is to plan. Strategic planning is a concept that is an absolute must for any business that wants to succeed. But this principle is not just for business. You will have to plan for any area of your life where you want to see success. Of course there has to be action and activity – the stuff you do. You also have to have exert energy. But before any of that will have any meaning, you have to know where it all needs to be directed. That is the purpose of planning.

Planning has to be built on a particular foundation. There are plenty of resources that give you a clear 1-2-3 system for doing planning. We are not going there in this article. What we want to look at are the underlying elements of planning. If we take the time to put these elements in place first, the actual process of planning takes on an entirely new level of meaning.

Principle

The most basic foundation stone relates to the basic principles that guide the operation of your life and your business. Principle defines the parameters within which you will work. It defines how you will relate with other people, the kind of integrity you will operate by, the places you will do business, and even the type of products and services you will offer. Once you decide your parameters of operation, everything you do will fit inside of that. There will be things you will do and things you won’t do based on it.

Too often people don’t start their strategic planning at this level. They skip it and go right on to purpose. But even purpose has to come from somewhere. You will never have a complete handle on what you are doing unless you start by defining and understanding the basic principles you will operate under.

Purpose

The second level of your foundation must be your purpose. If you don’t have a compelling reason for doing what you do you will not be motivated to perform at a high level. Purpose provides the motivational propulsion which gives power and enjoyment to your activities.

There are many possible levels of purpose at which people may operate. People with little responsibility tend to operate at very superficial levels. They only want a paycheck or to have fun. They do not really concern themselves with final outcomes. People with great responsibility are completely absorbed with the final outcomes.

The reason this is so important is that good motivation is the key to good productivity. People have a personal purpose for what they do. If their only purpose is the paycheck, they will do just enough to get paid. If their purpose somehow matches up with the purpose of the organization, they will do all they can to help make sure the organization achieves its goals.

Goals

Level three of the foundation is goals. Goals are the “what” of the operation. What is it that needs to be accomplished? When everything is finished, what has been done?

Ultimately, goals are based on purpose. This is why it is very difficult to achieve a desired outcome without a clearly defined purpose.

In establishing goals, there is a serious problem that many people run into. There are two different types of goals that it is possible to establish, and many people get these mixed up. If you establish the wrong type of goal for your specific situation, you will not achieve your desired end.

The first type is an outcome goal. This type is appropriate when you have a specific and measurable end that you want to achieve. You can typically put a cost and/or time limit on it. When you get to the end you can point at it and say, “We did it!”

But there is another type of goal that fits a different need – a process goal. Sometimes the result you are looking for does not involve an outcome, but a process. Anything that involves growth and development needs this kind of goal. It is possible to become the very best worker in your organization but still not be as good as you can be. It is possible to develop the business to a very high level and still have room for improvement.

It is very important to set process goals for the development of processes (individually and organizationally) and to set outcome goals to accomplish specific outcomes.

Plans

Plans are the specific steps that are taken to carry out your goals and are the fourth foundation stone for success. Plans are the “when, where and how” of the operation. And just as there are outcome and process goals, plans must be organized this way, as well.

When you are trying to achieve a particular outcome, you have to have create very specific steps that lead to an ultimate conclusion. When you put the last piece of the puzzle in place, the whole thing is finished.

But when you are trying to achieve growth and development, you never see the final end, you only see progress. As a result, you have to create plans that keep you moving forward. These are very different kinds of plans, so you have to be sure that you are not mixing the two.

Tools

The final foundation stone is proficiency with the tools you will use to carry out your plans. We are speaking, here, of the skills that allow you to perform the tasks and to become the kind of person who is capable of carrying out the plans. All of the preparation and strategizing in the world will do you no good if you can’t carry them out.

The tools are probably not what you think. They do not simply involve gaining proficiency in the mechanics of doing your job. Rather, they are the various facets of our personhood which allow us to grow and move forward.

The first set of tools are our emotions. These skills involve learning to control our emotions so that we can be effective in our work no matter the circumstances. No matter how competent you are in other areas, if you panic or fall apart under pressure you will not be effective in achieving the outcomes you desire.

The second set of tools relate to our body. We have to be physically capable of doing the activities that are necessary to complete our tasks. It involves nutrition, rest and exercise as well as repetitive activity to become skillful at what we do.

Tool set number three is brain activity. These skills involve acquiring knowledge as well as developing our brains so that we can be effective at focus, concentration perspective, outlook and mental quickness.

The final set of tools relate to the development of our spirit. This is the part of our being that is self-aware, creative, communicative, makes choices, and does analysis. It is the inner core of our personhood. It is possible to become more skillful in each of the areas that involve our spirit. And to the degree we do, we will become more effective.

This Is Only the Beginning

You will never move to higher and higher levels unless you take the time to develop the areas that relate to strategic planning. That being said, don’t ever let planning be an end in itself. No plan ever carried itself out. Planning is just that, a foundation. It is a foundation for how energy will be exerted and directed to accomplish an outcome.

Don’t plan, or plan poorly, and you will certainly hinder your forward progress. But plan well and you have a great possibility to soar into the future.

Natural Hormones for Treating Perimenopause and Menopause Symptoms

June 21st, 2008

Many women who are experiencing unpleasant perimenopause or menopause symptoms are considering alternative treatments based on natural hormones as a means of alleviating them. Conventional hormone replacement therapy is generally regarded as a very reliable and effective treatment for a wide range of perimenopause or menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, fatigue, a decline in libido, mood swings, depression and memory lapses. However, the issue of whether or not it may increase the risk of breast cancer and other serious health problems such as blood clots remains controversial. Many women are seeking treatments based on natural hormones as an alternative, believing them to be free from the same potential health risks. It’s very important to understand that any kind of medical treatment, whether naturally derived or not, carries with it the risk of side effects, harmful interactions and allergic reactions. It’s very wise to discuss your symptoms and your concerns with your doctor, and get individual, professional advice on the treatment options which are most suitable for you.

Treatments for menopause symptoms derived from natural hormones.

There are a number of types of natural plant based treatments for perimenopause symptoms. Perhaps the most widely used are made from plants rich in natural phytoestrogens, sometimes known as isoflavones, which are chemically very similar to the natural estrogen produced by the ovaries. The effectiveness of these types of treatments relies on the assumption that phytoestrogens have the same effect in the body as the body’s own natural hormones. High levels of phytoestrogens are found in food products made from soy, and herbs such as dong quai, licorice root and black cohosh.

Some doctors believe that declining levels of progesterone have a more significant role in causing menopause symptoms than is conventionally believed. Natural treatments which are designed to restore progesterone levels most commonly take the form of a topically applied cream made from an extract of Mexican wild yam, which contains a substance similar to human progesterone. Natural progesterone treatments may also involve taking supplements of extracts from herbs such as chaste tree berry.

Lynn Donn is the webmaster for http://www.menopause-symptoms-perimenopause.com Her website includes helpful articles on perimenopause and menopause symptoms including hot flashes and night sweats. Site offers suggestions on how to ease symptoms of menopause and perimenopause naturally using black cohosh, soy and natural progesterone cream etc.

Get your computer protected from intruders who look to take advantage of you and your unknowing ways online you can find all your different types of malware online and they will work for the most. But if you are not sure where to go or what kind of program you want then you need to think about going to different forums on or about malware that people have already been to and commented about, this will give you a great start. The way spyware/ malware is gaining in strength an updated anti-virus/anti-spyware/anti-spam module is better than wondering whether each piece is updated.

Reporting and alerts are a must, that way you can pinpoint the culprits and then have a talk with Bill about the reason his computer is always so slow – the spyware he keeps downloading. Alerts are critical so that if someone else uses Bill’s computer and loads spyware/malware, you find out immediately. Data loggers, key loggers are just a few programs which harvest info from your computer. Winclear is the only program created specially to auto remove such spywares. Protect With Winclear :Internet Explorer History Folder
I could not get many of the items off the computer. I decided to reformat. So, I backed up my data and reformatted the entire hard drive with a new version of windows completely updated. I have Mcafee on the front door and Netdetector for spyware. Within minutes of browsing with Internet Explorer, Netdetector found a rootkit and and a hard to remove trojans. Still, I lost so much valuable data from the malware, I was looking for something better. Keylogger companies actually guarantee that nobody can detect their software so I knew I must do better than a couple software packages. Winclear is the only software which is capable of removing keylogger programs. If you visit a pet store online and commonly look at cat products the store will install a cookie that saves your preferences and tracks which pages you look at not only telling the company what their customers are viewing but giving you targeted results on the front page. Winclear has been the industry leader in fighting keyloggers for the last 8 years.

Anthony Loeff the European mountaineer is reporting the scales for Mount Everest and Mont Blanc

June 17th, 2008

Therefore, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Min Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. “Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.

Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. “The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on the Mount Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Chomolungma or Mount Everest is shared by two countries. More than 3144 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.

As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Chomolungma, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. This year French climber Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for Mt Everest after reaching the peak of earlier this season.

They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. His first found him within 211 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Two years later, Andrew Brash, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Everest to finish what he had started.

With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Andrew Brash noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. Sherchan just 12 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.

Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.

Climber from Nepal, 74, oldest person to conquer the peak of the Mount Everest However, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Everest could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Min Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”

Now that Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over Chomolungma or Mount Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Chomolungma. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”

The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Mount Everest.

Boat Cleaning Business – Bilge Clean-up Tips

June 15th, 2008

These areas, like any other car engine and compartment that you may come across, can either be very clean, or be extremely greasy, dirty and grimy. Remember to mention the difficulty in locating fuel, oil or water leaks on a dirty leaky bilge. You will need to take extreme caution when doing in the bilge area as there are extra switches and wiring, like you might find underneath in a car engine. It’s critical to avoid damaging any of these as they are extremely expensive, roughly two to three times the cost of a comparable car part. You’ll also have to be cautious of getting any of the waste water spilled out into the fresh water if you’re doing it in open water. If this happens you’ll be violating The Federal Clean Water Act of 1972 and your City, County and State’s NPDES permit.

To clean the bilge area, you’re going to need a shop vac, that is one that you don’t care for very much. Probably an old one because it’s going to be sucking up nasty oily water, and it’s not something you want to transfer into a nice carpeted area. The hose area will get greasy and grimy. So invest, or if you’ve got an old one hanging around, use that shop vac for reclaiming the water that’s going to be produced inside the bilge area after cleaning. Be sure to remove vacuum bag from the filter before using it to suck up any waste water. The most important thing is to constantly check the water level while working. You will need a small handheld wash brush, a sponge or two, some detail brushes for getting into some crevices, a good paint-safe degreaser, one that’s diluted down to be paint-safe, some engine dressing for hoses and surrounding parts that can be dressed. You’ll also need some plastic baggies or large plastic covers and large rubber bands (much like doing a car engine underneath the hood) to cover the distributor or any other sensitive electrical parts. Do not use aluminum foil to cover parts. Soap near by areas in case degreaser gets deflected onto areas of painted surfaces or aluminum heads where discoloration may occur.

Also, before beginning, realize that the boat’s bilge pump can come on. Once it reaches a certain level, a float switch will send water flowing out the outside of the boat usually high up just below the rub rail. So you’ll want to perhaps rig a bucket on the outside of the boat to catch anything that might spill out that you can’t catch. Periodically, you’re going to have to stop the progress of work to pump it out with your shop vac. Especially in those cases where you’re working over water, the fines can be hefty and you do not want to pollute with the oily, greasy water that’s going to be produced when cleaning a bilge. Use the minimum amount of water necessary and you’ll minimize problems associated with cleaning the engine compartments and bilges in these boats. Set your pressure washer at 1200-2000 PSI and 180 degrees and work in short and accurate bursts whenever possible, if you do not have one use gunk, but if you can rent one it is a better idea.

We recommend if possible a ’surfactant’ type water soluble degreaser. Make sure the area is well vented. When applying dressing make sure the engine is cool and dry. If you decide this job is too difficult expect your costs should be about $50 for single engine boats, $100 if reclaim is necessary. Twin engine boats from $80 to $100 for small boats. Large boats or extremely greasy boats from $100 to $400 depending on condition and reclaim time. Pay special attention when working in tight compartment areas because of cuts on knuckles, knees and arms. Lots of sharp edges. The fiberglass often comes apart and/or is lazy cut and unfinished. Don’t stick your hands where you can not see them. Wear leather gloves.

Step By Step Processes

First, begin by covering any of the sensitive electrical parts, the distributor, any main electrical boxes, the battery switches which are sometimes found in the bilge area. Spray some paint-safe degreaser on the valve covers and on the top portions of the engine in the crevices where you’ll find grease. Usually underneath or immediately underneath the sides of the engine, it’ll be heavier in those areas as well. Spray and let degreaser sit for a bit to work in. Then hit with your pressure washer if available to clean up the areas sprayed with degreaser. Scrub where you’re able to reach carefully, and be very careful where you place your hands or your feet, as it is sometimes a tricky area to work in but you have to be very careful not to break anything underneath. As mentioned, the parts are extremely expensive and if something goes really wrong in an engine compartment, you could possibly damage the boat so that it sinks. So, you have to be extremely careful.

Never exert too much pressure on the manifolds. Although they seem solid they may not actually be as solid as they look. If you were to break one of them the boat could take on water and sink. And that’s going to create a big problem. So once again caution, and being extremely careful and sensitive to that engine area is critical. Remember as you are taking water into the bilge you need to be taking it out with the shop vac as you are cleaning just to make sure it does not get above the float level and start spilling out. Use extreme caution when doing this or the fines can be hefty on this one.

Once you have drained the water out of the bilge area, take a large nasty terry cloth towel that you’ve had sitting around that you don’t want to take care of anymore, your nastiest towel, use that to wipe down any areas that were extremely thick with grease and/or oil. Use this towel to also dry and remove right underneath the engine areas as there will sometimes be some residual moisture. Continue on by using a water base only, never ever a solvent-based dressing, to condition and renew some of the rubber underneath in the engine area, some of the hoses, the black parts, the black areas. Once again, never ever use a solvent base as this is a flammable material and if a boat fire starts, you can cause severe injury or possible death to the passengers of the boat or you can cause the boat to sink if an engine fire takes place inside a boat. So, never ever use anything with a solvent base as a dressing in an engine compartment.

If you are using a garden hose be careful of the gallon per minute rate at which water comes out of the hose. One of our Washington competitors in Carillon Point Harbor nearly sank a 29 foot Sea Ray. He left the water running while cleaning the cockpit and dashboard. Batteries all dead, electrical system shot. He would have lost the entire boat except luckily the dock master had a bailing bucket and water pump
